Argentina is the most important wine country in South America, with exciting wine regions, including Mendoza, San Juan and Salta in the north.
With new technology and know-how, Argentinian winemakers have has shifted their focus from quantity to quality. Grape varieties include the international Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Pinot Noir, although there are also many domestic varieties.
